A lifelong career in the martial arts and a genetic condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis left Paul in debilitating pain most nights before a colleague informed him of the benefits of Bikram hot yoga. Paul’s initial response was “Yoga? I’m a martial artist and we don’t do yoga! ” After suffering for another two years, and going on a prescription rheumatoid arthritis drug, Paul decided he had nothing to lose and took his first class. Wow was his initial reaction and it was challenging enough to go back. One week later he was hooked on the complimentary aspects of this yoga to his martial arts training. Three months into taking classes he began pondering becoming a teacher. After using the prescription for 6 months and suffering the side effects, (including having 2 prostate biopsies within 4 months of each other) he tossed the prescription away and devoted more time to his yoga practice. Within weeks, he knew he made the right decision as the full benefits of his practice started to kick in, no pun intended. That was the moment he knew he must attend Teacher Training and share the amazing benefits with everyone. With the blessing of his teacher he attended the training in the Spring of 2014 and hasn’t looked back, except to say goodbye to his pain. In addition to his yoga training, Paul also has a Bachelors Degree in Health and Physical Education from Glassboro State/Rowan University as well as being a certified Athletic Trainer by the N.A.T.A. and has worked in the rehabilitative field since 1992.
